Ancient Sumarians created some of the first boats that would allow commerce throughout the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, helping to build one of humanity’s first civilizations. The material used for these boats? REED. The abundant yet practical qualities of this ever renewed wetland grass serve as an inspiration for our story, pushing us to find similar innovations for our own vehicles.

Our Journey Starts Here
Alongside its affiliation with technology, Seattle is a city that is deeply connected to its waterways and all the wildlife that call it home. At REED, we believe that environmental conservation is a top priority for the Seattle community. By launching our first boat, the Washington 260, on Lake Washington, we hope to inspire a movement towards cleaner waters and a greener future. We’re excited to be a part of the transition toward a more sustainable tomorrow, and we invite the entire Pacific Northwest community to join us in this effort.

Our First Boat, the Washington 260
We’ve partnered with one of the world’s most prestigious yacht design and naval architect firms, Mulder Designs. The task we gave them? Design the REED Washington 260 as a yacht first, and then fit it to the perfect size for a runabout.
With the absence of bulky internal combustion engine requirements, we have the opportunity to reimagine the new space.
And we are not done. In the months ahead, we are refining every detail of the design to meet our D8 design philosophy: Design for safety; design for cost; design for function; design for reliability; design for simplicity; design for manufacturing; design for service, and; design for sustainability.
NOT ALL ELECTRIC DRIVES ARE THE SAME
Best-in-class Swiss Engineered Stern Drive
Safety and Reliability are our top priorities. The experience is ruined if you are constantly worried about these. To that end, we’ve partnered with eFalke, a Swiss Marine Engineering firm, who has designed a cutting edge drive system that has exceeded our loftiest expectations.
With 300kW (400HP!) and instantly available torque for pure acceleration delight, the high voltage system is automotive grade, adhering to the standards of safety and reliability required for on-road use, so you can be confident out on the water.
